We managed to spend a second weekend with my parents at Lake Tekapo.
Whilst we were there we walked a part of The Richmond Trail in Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park which gives good views over Lake Tekapo and up the Godley Valley. The track is well marked and never difficult, at least in summer conditions. I would imagine that the area is a bit bleak in winter. Although we only walked a small part of the trail, it is possible to continue through to the Round Hill Ski Area.

Climbing above the Richmond Trail for a better view.
In the evening we visited the Mount John Observatory and then on Sunday morning we took a trip to the hot pools.
